Job Type: Contract, Part-Time

Operates Under: Power to the People PDX (P2P) - AAAH's Energy Division

Compensation: $30.00/hr

About the Program

African American Alliance for Homeownership (AAAH) is one of seven Community Distribution Partners (CDPs) participating in the PCEF-funded Cooling Portland Program. The program was developed in response to recent extreme seasonal weather conditions, which threaten the health and safety of our most vulnerable neighbors. To combat these changes, Cooling Portland provides and installs free portable air conditioning to low-income residents meeting at least two of the following risk factors:

  1. Are more than 60 years of age

  2. Have medical condition(s) that increase risk of heat-related illness

  3. Are living alone

Responsibilities

  • Act as a friendly initial point of contact for the program by answering phone and email inquiries professionally and in a timely manner

  • Identify eligible applicants and triage inquiries based on risk level

  • Coordinate with the installation team to verify scheduled appointments

  • Track installation records against inventory weekly to ensure all units are accounted for

  • Co-host presentations for the public when opportunities to do so occur (occasional Saturdays during peak season)

  • Offer solutions and troubleshooting with any former recipients seeking assistance

  • Perform quality assurance calls, evaluations and occasional home visits

  • Assist with reporting, scheduling, administrative tasks, and other relevant duties as needed

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent time and organizational management skills

  • Ability to handle high-volume customer service

  • Ability to maintain attention to detail while navigating multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, emphasis on Excel

  • Ability to learn industry systems and software

  • Polite, clear, and concise communication skills

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience working with diverse communities

  • Proficiency with CMS software/data analytics

  • Degree in Business, Public Administration, Social Work, Communications, Environmental Science, Renewable Energy, Engineering, or related field

  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply!

 

This is a limited duration, contracted position.

This position reports to the Program Manager.
